CCHL Recap | Bears and Grads Win Sunday Afternoon

Ottawa, ON – Sunday afternoon featured all four semi finalist teams in action. The Smiths Falls Bears beat the Cornwall Colts 2-1 in Cornwall. In an overtime battle, the Navan Grads won 1-0 against the Rockland Nationals in Rockland.

Travis Ouellette struck first for Smiths Falls in the 1st period, swiftly answered by Nathan Garnier for Cornwall in the 2nd period. The game remained deadlocked until the final period when Matthew Martin-Gaudreault netted the game-winner for Smiths Falls. Goaltender Dawson Labre shone for Smiths Falls with 23 saves, while Donald Hickey put up a valiant effort in the Cornwall net with 31 saves.

F | Navan 1 Rockland 0

The game remained scoreless throughout regulation, with both teams showcasing strong defensive performances. Danik Marion became the hero for Navan in overtime, securing the lone goal of the game. Goaltender Jaeden Nelson stood tall for Navan, making an impressive 37 saves to preserve the shutout. On the other end, Rockland’s netminder Benoit Forget also put up a formidable effort with 21 saves.
